This is last night. A poorly baby that wouldn't settle in his cot so wanted to be on his Mummy's chest in Mummy and Daddy's bed. It was a bit stressful, there was lots of crying prior to this but it led us to this magical moment. My baby's skin on my chest, his little hand holding on tightly. I kissed the wispy hair on his head, breathed in his amazing scent and enjoyed every minute of this perfect moment.

Mummy cuddles
Henry is so much better than he was but he's still not 100%. He's been really clingy today and I was getting so frustrated that I couldn't go anywhere or do anything without him being attached to me. Then I thought about it, he needs me for a reason, he's still not feeling the best, he just wants mummy cuddles or a feed, is that really so awful? All the jobs on my to-do list can wait, and for today I'm going to enjoy the fact that I have a boy who wants to snuggle in, feed more than usual and be with his mama. I'll miss these days before long and when I'm at work on Monday I know I'll miss my baby cuddles more than anything.

That Friday feeling
I didn't miss work at all during my maternity leave but there was one thing that just wasn't the same...Friday nights! A Friday night can only be truly appreciated after a busy week of work and I am loving my Friday evening so far. I finished work at lunchtime and had a nap with my little pigwidgeon when we got in. Then, when Mr B got in, we all went for a nice walk by the river with the dog. A perfect and peaceful end to a busy working week.
On the way home we picked up a curry and a bottle of wine and we are now sitting playing with Henry before his bath and bedtime. Perfection.

Calpol, caffeine, concealer and lots and lots of cuddles
My poor baby is poorly, we probably got less than 3 hours sleep all night last night as he was awake most of the night with a high temperature and feeling grotty with it. Perfectly timed with Daddy being away with work and it being my first week back!
I hate feeling so helpless when he's ill and know that all I can do for him is give him plenty of my milk, cuddles and keep his temperature down if I can. I'm so glad that I'm still breastfeeding at times like this, he's hardly eaten in 24 hours but at least I know he's getting all the goodness and antibodies from my milk. Apart from that we are just snuggling and watching Thomas the Tank together. Being a mummy is by far the best thing in the world, but it's also the most stressful and worrying too. Fingers crossed he improves overnight tonight and my happy boy is back tomorrow.

A very normal afternoon
It's only Wednesday but it has to be said, I'm loving only working part time. Monday was tough because I was there all day but I've only worked mornings for the last 2 days which has meant that I've been home for 1pm.
After I picked Henry up today we came home and went back to bed for a nap. After working all morning there's nothing better than putting on my pjs and snuggling my little bear, I miss him so much on a morning.
He was shattered so fell asleep really quickly and I must have drifted off soon after. Next thing I know it's 4:45...nearly three hours later!! We must have needed the sleep but I'm not sure how easily either of us will go to sleep tonight now. Oh well.
We then got up and played together, had dinner and watched some tv. There have been plenty of kisses and snuggles, lots of stories and games and tasty food. It has been a thoroughly normal afternoon but I've loved every second.

Officially a working mama
It's safe to say I don't have time for a longer blog tonight. Today was a long day, done on very little sleep thanks to an unsettled baby last night. It wasn't as bad as I had imagined and it was the best thing ever coming home to this gorgeous boy tonight. Back where I belong, until 7:30 tomorrow morning at least!

Sunday blues
So tomorrow I go back to work after almost a whole year off and I can honestly say that I've just loved it. It has been the best year of my life and I feel so lucky that I've been able to take so long out of 'real life' to enjoy just being Mummy.
I've watched many a sun rise with my baby tucked up in bed, feeling like the only people awake in the world. I've done countless night feeds whilst struggling to keep my tired eyes open. We've had bath times, lunch times and snack times, always together. Just me and my boy. We've had play dates, lunch dates, endless tea and cake dates. We've laughed, smiled, cried and loved. I love my little boy more than anyone or anything in the world and the best part of it is, I know he feels exactly the same about his mama. I am going to miss him so very, very much.
