Tesco Lifestyle Food Fair

Now Tesco are pretty infamous for their rubbish attitude towards allergies, pretty much every single one of their goods contains a 'may contain....' label just to cover their backs. Not all that helpful when you are trying to buy food that wont be harmful (or potentially, fatal) for you or your children.

Anyway they've redeemed themselves slightly with their Lifestyle Food Fair which is taking place until the end of August in most of their bigger Tesco Extra stores. It basically includes foods for alternate lifestyles...things like vegan products, high protein items and lots of 'free from' products for people with allergies. Obviously we were interested in the vegan and free from sections...I left the high protein well alone, I haven't turned into a crazy gym buff, don't worry!
Anyway here are all the treats that I picked up...
•Enjoy Life soft baked cookies (I got these in 3 flavours - chocolate chip, chocolate brownie and gingerbread). This is an imported product from America and doesn't contain any of the top 10 allergens. They are all made from natural products still which is fab, you often find that free from things are full of artificial crap!! The chocolate chip are the only ones we've tried so far and they are SO yummy....Henry had a sneaky taste too and they were a hit with him.

• Enjoy Life sugar crisp cookies. Similar to the above, but crispy instead of soft baked.

• Nature's Store chocolate orange rice cakes. I thought these would be good as a healthier treat for me to try.

• Nākd bars and fruit bites. I've tried products from Nākd before and I really like them. They're totally natural and are usually made up of dates, fruit and nuts. They do quite a few chocolate varieties which are great for a healthy chocolate fix and they're dairy/egg/gluten free too.

• Nom bars. I've never tried these oat and fruit bars but they looked tasty so worth a try. They were pretty pricey though, about £1.20 each I think.

• Dairy free white and milk chocolate buttons. I've had these before and they're actually really good considering they aren't proper chocolate. Good for a little treat!

• Rice milk. This is for Henry to try on his cereal and porridge on a morning and for supper. Although I'm happy to keep breastfeeding, I'm finding expressing a massive pain now that I'm back at work, so this is our alternative. Obviously it's not replacing any feeds so it's fine for him to try while he's so little. Hopefully he'll like it.

• Free From banana smoothies. Again, these are for Henry. He adores the Ella's kitchen 'The White One' pouches and these are really similar. It's a mix of coconut milk, banana and apple and he loves them. These work out way cheaper than the Ella's Kitchen ones too.

And that's it! I'm really impressed with the new products that Tesco had in stock and will definitely be back to restock if we like these items. Ah the exciting life of a mummy breastfeeding a baby with allergies!!
