A tale of two photos

Today we went to Rockliffe Hall for afternoon tea. The last time we went was when Henry was 3 weeks old. Here is a picture taken in the same place, back in October and then today.

In the first picture I see a tired new mummy, totally in love with the tiny bundle in her arms. She's wearing a special top for breastfeeding, still nervous about feeding out and about without the comforts of home. She is worried about the baby disturbing people's posh afternoon tea, how many times she'd need to change a nappy and how many feeds she'd have to do. She is concerned about the drive home after the baby has cried on the journey there. Despite these worries, she has never been happier.

In the second photo I see a much more relaxed mummy, just as tired though! She's more in love with her not-so-tiny bundle than ever before. He is happy and relaxed. She is no longer worried about him disturbing everyone's afternoon tea, she knows him by now and knows that he'll be angel, as always. She's wearing her old clothes and actual make up, not just concealer under her eyes. She isn't remotely worried about feeding and hasn't worn a special feeding top. She knows where the baby change is and she has a bag full of supplies. She loves these type of days, out and about with her boy.

It's amazing how much has changed in the 5 months since the last photo was taken. I love being a mummy more than anything, I never dreamed that I could love anyone as much as I love Henry. I've never been happier. It's also worth noting that it probably took me 2 hours longer to get out of the house 5 months ago for our trip to Rockliffe. It really does get easier every day!
