Some 'us' time

I'm not the sort of person that has a baby then palms them off on anyone who'll have them for the next few years. I don't  understand when people go on holiday and leave their tiny babies with relatives, claiming that it's important to have some time as a couple too. I'm not talking about the odd night away or odd Saturday night out, there seem to be a growing number of parents that aren't happy that their lives have to change and adapt after having children...so they don't adapt, they just get a babysitter! Of course it's important to have time as a couple, but why have children if you want rid of them pretty much every weekend?
We decided to have children because we wanted to spend all of our time as a family. We don't want to go on couples holidays anymore, we want to go to Disneyland countless times. We don't want to spend our weekends drinking in bars and pubs, we want to go to farms and zoos with a picnic. I'm really surprised at how few people are like us in that respect.

Having said all that, it's lovely to have an hour or so of child free time every now and again. We're really lucky that we have my mum up the road who's always more than happy to have Henry if we need to go somewhere that's not very baby friendly or if we'd like some grown up time.

It was Mr B's birthday this week so we decided to go out for Saturday lunch to celebrate. It had to be planned around Henry's naps and feeds, as usual, which is why we decided on lunch really. I like to be here to put Henry to bed on a night time and he doesn't need milk feeds during the day now really.
We had such a lovely, quiet, grown-up lunch at Bistro 21 in Durham. We've been before several times but never since Henry came along, it's definitely not the most child friendly place...think pressed linen napkins and starched white tablecloths...not great for a baby who likes to feed himself!! Anyway we had 3 courses, prosecco and beer and sat outside in the gorgeous courtyard to eat. Heaven.
It was such a lovely day today, it felt like we were in a gorgeous French garden rather than Durham city.
It was lovely to have an hour to ourselves for adult conversation and the best bit of all was driving back home to our gorgeous boy that we both love SO much. He'd had a whale of a time in his Marmar's paddling pool but was happy to see his Mummy and Daddy home for snuggles.
